Targeted NPK applications are crucial for cereal crops, the secondary and trace elements of greatest importance are magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc. Even on soils that contain good quantities of these nutrients, plants can still show deficiencies and this may be due to a number of factors such as rapid growth, biotic and abiotic pressure.

These type of deficiencies may not appear to last very long, but can cause harm to the plant during critical growth phases with serious potential of limiting yield. In these situations foliar applications of the appropriate nutrients may be required in order to avoid the potentially negative impacts.
