Berry Crops
Probably the largest fruit sector in Northern temperate areas, Berry crops encompasses Strawberry, Raspberry and Blackberry and are some of the most intensive cropped species of fruits available. These crops are grown in both protected areas and in open field for most of the year due to differing planting dates and multiple crop plantings across the season.
Nutritionally they are highly demanding and require consistent support to give high yeilds and quality berries as predominatly they are grown is sunstrates rahter than soil. Aqualatus Ca
As a large protportion of berry crops are grown in substrate, predominately coir (cocopeat) this comes with challenges which need to be overcome to ensure high quality fruit production.
Fortify Cu
Fortify Cu (7-16-0+1.5% Cu) is a unique formulation of nitrogen phosphorus, copper and halide ions which complement each other to support berry plant growth, support plant health and reduce yield loss. With programmed application, Foritfy Cu will aid vascular flow, support root growth, maximise copper transport within all berry species. Fortify Cu will support and maintain established yield and limit susceptibility to berry fruit disease infections such as blight, leaf spots and wilts.
Fortify Maxx
The latest edition to the Fortify Platform, Engage launch Fortify Maxx for 2023. Building on the success of market leading bio-stimulatory technologies such as Fortify Cu and Fortify XD, Fortify Maxx introduces a brand new technology, Phenophites. Fortify Maxx is a package of three chelated micronutrients and unique to ENGAGE, plant extracts called ‘Phenophites’ taken from specific plant species naturally attuned to withstanding higher levels of abiotic and biotic stress.
The nutritional/phenophite package works in combination to increase the natural production of phenolic compounds from secondary pathways to significantly limit a plants susceptibility to stress of any kind. In berry crops it is irrigated along with feed continually to limit suscptibility to abiotic stress and pathogen stress from diseases such as phytopthora, pythium, mildew and red core.
Sion
The overuse of inorganic fertilisers and pesticides has massively reduced soil biology to the point where the need for silicon nutrition has been established. Plants only take up one specific form of silicon which is silicic acid. To address this Engage developed Sion. At 21% Silicon, Sion is highest available liquid silicon in the world and delivers silicon at such high levels its use rate is only required 0.25-1.0L per hectare.
In Berry crops using Sion regularly will support the optimal growth to strengthen all plant tissues to reduce susceptibility to any stress and reduce susceptability from pathogen infection, espcially powdery mildew and reduce damage from insect predation. Most importantly it works in conjunction with calcium to ensure fruit flesh is dense and the skins develop optimal firmness.
Bio-Chel Ca
One of the worlds most concentrated calcium chelate liquids, Bio-Chel Ca 10% CaO) is organically formulated from a sustainable, renewable resource and is 100% available calcium. Being pure calcium and organically chelated means calcium acceptance by berry crops and their and developing fruit could not be higher, so efficacy is assured. The strong organic chelation within Bio-Chel Ca is important as it makes the product non-reactive and therefore ideal for application within all nutrient and foliar plant protection sprays. Used regularly Bio-Chel Ca will optimise bud growth, flowering and fruit set and will deliver optimal levels of calcium to developing apples to ensure longer storage potential and no calcium related disorders.
Bio-Chel Fe (Granular)
Bio-Chel Fe Granular (10%Fe) is an advanced micronutrient granule, organically chelated, to provide an highly effective iron for both root and foliar application. Using Bio-Chel chelation, the ratio of soluble lignin to iron in Bio-Chel Fe Liquid has been optimised to ensure full stability and availability over a pH range of 3-7. The product is highly soluble after the spray application has dried. This increases chlorophyll and photosythesis to support optimal carbohydrate production.
VerdeNT
VerdeNT is a unique nitrogen and calcium formulation combined with Arm U Advanced, seaweed and MAS technologies specifically designed to berry plant structure to enhance yield and quality. The nitrogen within VerdeNT is ‘locked’ in amine form and slow released which for foliar use means its use by berry crops is very different. Unlike nitrate nitrogen foliar fertiliser, VerdeNT does not stimulate auxin production which promotes longer, weaker internodes and diverts calcium away from developing fruits. Growth habit with VerdeNT is more compact and stronger and aids growth generation without reducing overall productivity.
Cypher
Cypher is a modified organic acid blend derived from plant active portions of lignin and leonhardite ore. It comprises of 100% organic acids which unlock nutrient potential for increased berry plant growth and yield. Cypher is designed to condition soils and substrate which have become compacted, overloaded in bonded salts or have a higher than optimal pH. Regular use of Cypher will help maintain good rootzone stability, optimal pH and active soil microflora and will bebond ‘locked up’ nutrients to reduce rootzone EC without the requirement to flush nutrient out.
