Engage’s Mark Horner and Vera Gacic had a superb day at BerryCon in Warsaw, Poland on 30 January 2024.
Kindly invited by the organiser and leading Polish distributor within the berry sector Salasz Agro, Jan Szalas and his team, organised a hugely successful day with a broad spectrum of speakers and plenty of interesting, detailed information to digest.
Still a relatively young initiative, the third BerryCon was definitely enjoyed by all, proven by the growth of interest in attendance and the social networking within and after the event. The conference attracted more than 150 attendees which included domestic and international farmers, growers, scientists, packers and representatives of various supporting businesses. It was clear to see the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement to collect experiences, knowledge and updates from across the EU, expand the network of connections for the Polish berry sector.
A highlight came from leading UK berry growers Steve and Jenny Tasker presented an informative and light-hearted talk about their Berry farm in Lincolnshire and a review of the current size of the berry sector in the UK and the challenges it faces.
Engage Crop Solution is expanding its global footprint with Szałas Agro kindly introducing multiple Engage technologies to Poland’s berry sector on the day. Fortify Maxx was discussed as part of new innovations for reducing pesticide applications as the polish berry sector makes a strong push toward 0% residues on fruit.
Other products such as Sion, Fortify 30-20 and MAS-Power Active Grow were also discussed by Bayer’s, Alin Borleanu, previously of NIAB/EMR who reviewed leading UK strategies for the prevention of powdery mildew alongside a fungicide programme.
Engage hope to launch both Fortify Maxx and Opti-Cal in Poland in Spring 2024.
